The Department of International and European Studies (DIES) promotes excellence in teaching and research in EU studies and is ranked first in students’ preference during the entrance exams. Taking a step further the DIES increase its openness towards society.

The DIES, belongs to the School of Economics, Business and International Studies; it offers all three cycles of study (undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral), based on three pillars: international political economy, international relations and European issues. One of its main missions is to provide highly qualified graduates, who possess the skills and knowledge required to occupy positions within IOs, European institutions, Public Administration as well as private enterprises. DIES runs successfully three Master Programmes, a Msc in International and European Studies; a Msc in Energy – Strategy, Law and Economics in English; a Msc in International and European Policies on Education, Training and Research and participates in the Interdepartmental Master in Law and Economics.

Jean Monnet Chair on European Union’s Education, Training, Research and Innovation Policies

The Jean Monnet Chair on “European Union’s Education, Training, Research and Innovation Policies”(EduTRIP) is based on the Department of International and European Studies of the University of Piraeus, Greece, first ranked in student preferences among its peers.

The objective of the Chair is the reinforcement of education, research and dialogue on the crucial issues and scientific developments in these areas at both national and European level. The main concern is to create synergies between universities, business, stakeholders and civil society.

It is the first Jean Monnet Chair on these issues in Greece and in the wider South East Europe and Mediterranean Area.

Laboratory of Education Policy, Research, Development and Interuniversity Cooperation

The aim of the laboratory of Educational policy, Research, Development and Inter-University Cooperation (ERDIC) is to become a scientific and valid institute to produce basic and applied research in the above-mentioned subjects and also cover educational and research needs of the Hellenic society.

The subject of the laboratory is research and study of the trends and the international developments in the sectors of education, research, development and inter-university cooperation.

The sectors of activation differ and their aim is to integrate the educator’s synergies in issues such as: Research on European and International subjects. Identification and respond to specialized educational and research needs; Development and implementation of International and European Programs; Training educators and educations executives on international and European issues; ERDIC educates a wide network of school teachers on European issues through the Program of European Commission’s representation in Greece “Teachers4Europe”; Development of co-operations with similar laboratories and research centers in Greece and abroad, with the aim of exchanging opinions, data and co-producing research, studies or other scientific work relating to the subjects of the laboratory; Knowledge and research dissemination with informative brochures, scientific magazines and publications of articles, studies and books; Organization of lectures, conferences and seminars in national and international level.
