Episode 2: Europe in a Region of Conflict Can the EU Make a Difference
We are delighted to continue the podcast series “Say Your Story” by the East-Med Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence 2.0.
Through personal perspectives and expert insights, the series aims to enhance awareness and understanding of the presence and role of the European Union in the Eastern Mediterranean.
In the second episode of the “Say Your Story” podcast series, entitled “Europe in a Region of Conflict: Can the EU Make a Difference?”, we are pleased to host Alexandra Nikopoulou, Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Piraeus.
What role can the European Union play in a complex and conflict-prone region such as the Eastern Mediterranean? How effective can the EU’s “soft power” approach be in a region often shaped by hard power dynamics? To what extent do EU policies translate into tangible influence on the ground? And, ultimately, is the relationship between Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean driven more by cooperation or by competition?
We also explore the role of Greece as a potential bridge between the EU and the Eastern Mediterranean.
